About Us

In December of 1999 Sarah McDavid and her husband Allen McDavid created South Elm Place with the
intention of bringing to Greensboro a shop with a distinctive New Orleans’ vibe.  Over time the store has
grown, evolved, and established a reputation as an excellent source of metaphysical products, beads,
unique jewelry, handcrafted candles, soaps & lotions -  and a damn cool place to just hang out. In the
spring of 2006 the name South Elm Place was changed to Terra Blue to better reflect the store's focus.

Meet BOB our resident
Japanese Bobtail and
mischief maker.

We adopted Bob  8  years
ago. ( at that time he was
known as Hakiri, but no
one could remember it
hence the new name Bob)
He was then an 11 month
old grand premier show
cat. He topped out in his
altered class. He is very loving and extremely humorous.
Coffee & Tea Bar

In 1999 downtown Greensboro was sorely lacking in good coffee, so for survival’s sake we included a coffee & tea bar into our store mix. A
convenient veranda-like entrance to the shop allowed for us to place café tables out front, and soon we became a little hangout in the
neighborhood. We proudly serve Fair-Trade, organic coffees roasted by Counter Culture Coffee in Durham, NC. Feel free to join us for a latte or
whatever anytime.

In addition to our comfy  atmosphere we also have our resident cats, Lily and Bob.

This is Lily our 9  year old
torty that I found on the
side of a busy road in
Greensboro, NC

We have had the joy of
her living with us ever
since she was 4 weeks
old.
